Polaroid Icons Tutorial

» Find a good image you want to make a polaroid icon out of and copy and paste it in to Paint Shop Pro. I'm using the one below.

Click on the thumbnail to see it

» Zoom out of your image 3 times. You may need to zoom out more depending on the size of your image. Press Print Screen on your keyboard.
» Open up a new image sized 100 x 100. Make sure you have the transparent box ticked.
» Press control and E to paste your image on to the blank canvas and place it how you want to.

» Make sure your layer palette is showing, if it isn't press F8 on your keyboard.
» Go to Layers >> Duplicate and set that layer to Screen.
» Go to Layers >> Duplicate and set that layer to Soft Light. Go to Layers >> Duplicate again.
» If your icon is too bright, you can lower the Screen opacity. If your icon is too dull, you can duplicate the Screen layer. My icon was too bright so I lowered my Screen opacity to 64%.

» Click on the top layer. Go to Layers >> Duplicate and set that layer to Burn 20% opacity. I raised my Burn opacity to 100% to see the flower's shadows better. Your layer palette should look similar to mine below.

» Go to Layers >> New Raster Layer. Leave the settings as they are and press OK.
» Copy and paste the texture below (from Babliz) on to your image and set the layer to Screen.

» Go to Layers >> Merge >> Merge All (Flatten).

» Copy and paste the polaroid below as a new image in to Paint Shop Pro.

» Go back to your icon and zoom out 5 times. Press Print Screen on your keyboard and then press control and V to paste your zoomed out icon as a new image.
» Select the Crop tool () and crop the image down to 28 x 27.

» Copy the cropped image and go back to the polaroid you pasted in to Paint Shop Pro before. Press control and E to paste the cropped image on to the polaroid.

» Now copy the polaroid and go back to your icon. Press control and E to paste the polaroid on to your icon and place it how you want to (make sure you zoom back in to your icon to see it properly).
» You can add more textures to your icon if you wish.
